Sailing in Monochrome

I like the blue colors.

Another Swallowtail

how lucky is that, I now have pics of the gorgeous swallow tail on my lilacs, then on my rhododendrons, and now on my bleeding hearts..this poor fellow is missing part of a wing.

Peonies

My single white peony I shared the other day is now open completely, they are large and lovely and such a nice reward for all the care I gave to her. My bush of double pink ones are about to open, I held the blossoming bud to give you a size idea..when it is fully open I will of course post her in all of her beauty..where would a garden be without shastas? The clematis is beginning to open, she is loaded with buds and this morning there was one single beauty smiling at me..I went around and fed everyone today their dose of bloodmeal and I swear I heard them *sigh* :)

Some More Blooms

Ah my delphininums are out and simply lovely and this white peony is my first one..that is I rescued a scraping from a bulb of a friend 2 yrs ago..the first year it was very weak, i did not hold out much hope..the second year it came back strong in leaf and stem but no buds..this year it has finally given me not one but two blooms..see..all good things come to those who wait. The blooms were well worth my wait and i adore each of my flowers..Now i have some white to go with the gorgeous pink and red ones..I am tickled. also I have the very common petunias in the pot around my screen studio..I call these my putter flowers..puttering petunias..as they always need dead heading and watering and are perfect for evenings when i am just enjoying outside.(instead of constant labor, honestly i feel like a field hand sometimes)..LOL
Also if anyone should like to use these photos for drawing reference feel free to do so..oh and I would love to see it too.

Dantura

Today I share my Dantura..it has opened and it is splendid! The smell is heavenly. This plant grows to be 6 to 8 feet tall and is loaded with buds at the moment. The flowers are really large, which is why I have grabbed hold of one to give you an idea of the flower size. The plant tag says it is Dantura but I was told by someone else it is actually Datura..so I really am not sure of its real name but it is highly toxic if eaten. They smell rich and aromatic like lilacs only much more concentrated..I am going to try to see if I can drag her into the basement this winter when she has gone by and see if i can store her there till next year (hopefully she will be able to survive).
The flower on this one is named purple ballerina. The buds are apprx 5-7 inches long.
I see the plant has attracted an interesting looking bee that I have never seen before, his legs are loaded heavily with pollen, his color resembles the green bottle flys we have here...OH NO!! ARE THE FLIES AND BEES MATING?
I have been having computer issues, I am working on trying to get some bugs worked out. but I am still around

Swallow Tails

The Swallow tails are out in great numbers, they also like my rhododendron which is in full bloom. The dog thought it was a great day for a dip and the kittens enjoyed one of their first days outdoors
